Froyo with the 5-0

As part of the upcoming Police Appreciation Week held in May, area students are encouraged to visit with law enforcement officers and enjoy a little frozen yogurt as well.
Froyo with the 5-0 is an event where area youth or the public in general are welcomed to come out to Froyo’s and More on FM 700 to visit with area law enforcement officers and enjoy 50 percent off the store’s frozen yogurt.
“We are trying to basically get families to show up with their kids,” said Terri Calley, event organizer and junior high school teacher. “Our target is kids. That’s why we are doing it at Froyo’s. We want to show our youth in the community that there is no reason to be afraid of the police department. They are here to protect and service us. So we want everyone to come out and eat frozen yogurt with us.”
The event is Thursday, May 18, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. as part of a number of activities to be held that week to recognize National Police Week, May 14-20. Calley said all area law enforcement officers are encouraged to attend if they can to meet the public.
