A local dentist is pitching in to help out some of Big Spring's canine orphans.
Dr. David Ward and his office, 1500 Scurry St., are in the middle of a pet supply drive. The giving started on May 1, and the drive will last through May 25. Donations will benefit the Happy Day Humane Society, 5710 W. Interstate 20.
Donna Payne, marketing director for Dr. Ward's office, said the drive is specifically targeting dogs.
"They don't need cat stuff. Just dog stuff," she said. "They really need toys and sheets for the summer. They take out the blankets and they use sheets. They can be used sheets, it doesn't matter. And then dog shampoo and dog food. All their cats are being fostered, and Wal-Mart provides supplies for the cats."
Those wishing to make donations to Dr. Ward's drive can bring supplies by his office during business hours, or leave them on the porch if the office is closed. Monetary donations can be made by check made out to the Happy Day Humane Society, and left in the locking mailbox at the dentist's office.
