Information on upcoming youth athletic camps

It is about that time again! The summer is quickly approaching, which means youth sports camps are right around the corner. Here is a look at what is coming up.
Basketball Camps:
Earl Diddle’s Little Hawk Camp
When: June 5th - 8th at 8:30 - 9:45 a.m.
Where: Dorothy Garrett Coliseum
Cost: $50.00
Registration is on Monday, June 5th from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m.
Little Hawk Camp is for girls and boys in grades 1st - 3rd. This camp is designed to introduce the game of basketball to young ones. There will be an incorporation of various activities to give an enjoyable environment specifically targeted for this age group. Campers will develop a basketball foundation that will enable them in the skill-building process. Groups will be separated by boys and girls.
Earl Diddle’s Girls’ Individual Shooting/Skill Camp
When: June 5th - 8th at 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Where: Dorothy Garrett Coliseum
Cost: $50.00
Registration is on Monday, June 5th from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m.
Individual Shooting and Skill Camp is for girls in grades 4th - 9th. It includes individual instruction on all aspects of the game. This camp is designed for younger campers to learn basketball fundamentals and have fun at the same time. At the end of the week, Campers will have the skills needed to practice at home the rest of the summer to become a better player with an emphasis on shooting the ball.
Earl Diddle’s Boys’ Individual Shooting/Skill Camp
When: June 5th - 8th at 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Where: Dorothy Garrett Coliseum
Cost: $50.00
Registration is on Monday, June 5th from 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.
The Shooting and Skills Camp is for boys in grades 4th - 9th. This camp is designed to introduce basketball players to the proper techniques used in shooting the basketball and playing their position. Campers will leave the week with key fundamentals and drills that will help them improve their shot techniques for their position on the floor. Coach Diddle and his staff will assist with the same instruction that is given to the Hawk team.

Preregistration is encouraged. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
Lady Steer Basketball and Volleyball Mini Camp (Session One)
When: May 30th - May 31st at 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Where: Big Spring Junior High Gym
Cost: $35.00
Age Group: incoming 3rd - 6th grade girls.
Lady Steer Basketball and Volleyball Mini Camp (Session Two)
When: May 30th - May 31st at 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Where: Big Spring Junior High Gym
Cost: $35.00
Age Group: incoming 7th - 9th grade girls.
The Big Spring Lady Steer Mini Camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of volleyball and basketball in a fun and positive atmosphere. The camp will be a short two-day mini camp that focuses on the fundamentals of each sport. Coach Katie Voss and her staff are excited about the opportunity to teach the skills to every young lady attending camp. The $35 includes a camp t-shirt, camp certificate and autographed mini basketball signed by the Lady Steer Varsity Basketball Team.
Late Registration is on May 30 at 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. (Late registration does not guarantee a camp t-shirt.)

Big Spring Steer Baseball Camp (Session One)
When: June 5th - 8th at 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Where: Steer Park
Cost: $80.00
Age Group: incoming 2nd - 5th grade boys.
Big Spring Steer Baseball Camp (Session Two)
When: June 5th - 8th at 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Where: Steer Park
Cost: $80.00 (includes t-shirt)
Age Group: incoming 6th - 9th grade boys.
The Big Spring Steer Baseball Camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of baseball in a fun and positive atmosphere and teach the youngsters to play the game one pitch at a time so that maximum enjoyment can be achieved. Coach Daniel Carrillo and his staff are excited about the opportunity to teach the skills to every young baseball player attending this year’s camp. In case of inclement weather, the camp may be moved indoors at the Big Spring ATC. Please go to Steer Park first and directions will be given at that time.
Registration for both sessions will be held at Steer Park on June 4th from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Walkups will be accepted on the day of camp if there is room.
