Services for Marcia Abbott, 60, of San Angelo, will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Steven Sweet of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church officiating.

Marcia was born Oct. 18, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas to Martin and Lillian Staggs. Marcia passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Lucille 'Lu' Norris

Lucille “Lu” Norris, 82 of Big Spring, died Sunday in a local nursing home. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ronnie Hodges, 59, of Big Spring, died Friday July 25, 2014, in Lubbock. Funeral services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

Severo M. Montes

Severo M. Montes, 60, of Big Spring, died Thursday July 24, 2014, at his residence. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Pastor Mona Lu Tonn of Spring Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born to Emsrosiana and Porfidio Montes July 19, 1954, in San Miguel, Mexico. He had been in the community for 15 years. He married Guadalupe Aguilar in Big Spring on Aug. 26, 2006. He was a truck driver for Globe and was a member of Spring Tabernacle.

Janice Cearley

Janice Cearley, 69, of Big Spring, died Tuesday in San Antonio. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ivins officiating.

Janice was born July 22, 1945, in Big Spring to Florine “Pete” and W. A. Cobb. She married Jim Cearley on Sept. 28, 1963, in Big Spring.

Lizzie Mae Turnipseed

Lizzie Mae Turnipseed, 92, of Big Spring, died Thursday July 24, 2014, at Stanton Nursing Center in Stanton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Myers & Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

She was born Feb. 9, 1922, to Mary Kate and Clarence Thompson in Atlanta, Ga. She married Lloyd M. Turnipseed on May 16, 1939, in Atlanta. She came to Big Spring in 1941.

She was a self-employed housekeeper, a long time member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church and a member of Ada Bell Dement Civic Art Club.

James Turner

James Turner, 86, of Big Spring, died Sunday July 20, 2014, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Cemetery in Borger, Texas.

He was born Dec. 17, 1927, to Peggy and Roy Lee Turner in Shamrock, Texas. He married Laura Martin on Nov. 14, 1954, in Corinth, Miss. He served 10 years in the United States Navy. He came to Big Spring in 2011. Before coming to Big Spring, he lived in Lubbock from 1981 to 2011.

Valentin Corralez

Valentin Corralez, 76, of Big Spring, died Thursday July 17, 2014, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial following at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born Dec. 16, 1937, in Cuchillo Parado, Chihuahua Mexico. He was a Catholic. He had worked for Clay and Lee Harris and more recently at Shroyer Motor Company. He married Margarita Mora in 1977.
